the cassims international textile testing conference (Aug 2006)

Growth in any business is driven by meeting and exceeding your customer’s needs. It is no secret that the textile industry has seen dramatic changes in how and where it manufactures. The textile industry leads in terms of the increasing global nature of business. It is therefore as an industry at the cutting edge of developing standards in specifying quality requirements. As a manufacturer, using and communicating these standards are the only way to know if one is meeting and exceeding those requirements.

The Textile Testing Conference on 'standardising in a globalising industry' highlights how these standards bring together a globalized market and the value proposition it brings to higher cost, higher quality manufacturers. It also showcases some of the latest technologies in the testing industry and offers an opportunity to discuss how they can bring about new methods for testing and assessing tests in previously difficult applications.

The world renowned American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), a not for profit scientific organization of textile professionals, has an 85 year old tradition of developing consensus based testing standards, quality control aids, and educational materials that allow buyers and sellers to reliably measure and communicate the performance of textile fibers and fabrics. They are proud to be participating in this upcoming conference for the Sri Lankan textile industry. The President of the AATCC would be the keynote speaker at this event and would also be presenting some new technologies.

update.. (Sep 2006)
The Cassims International Textile Conference was held at the Transasia Hotel in Colombo with over 200 participants from the textile & apparel industries in Sri Lanka. The Keynote speaker was the president of the AATCC who was invited to speak to the participants and introduce the important activities of this textile association based out of North Carolina USA.

As a corporate member of the AATCC and a responsible supplier of technology for the textile industry as well as quality instruments we are pleased to have had the interest and support from the industry which was amply shown during the meetings and discussions with all the guest speakers.
